Goodbye, GoDaddy?
Has today’s GoDaddy hack made you want to move your site to another hosting company? I certainly wouldn’t blame you if it did!
I’ve never been a big fan of GoDaddy as I’ve heard some stories about poor customer service and, of course, there was their support of the SOPA bill last year that really turned me against them.
If you’re looking for alternatives with excellent customer service, I’d like to recommend two companies that I’ve done business with. The first is HostGator and the second is BlueHost. I’ve had sites hosted by both and they offer fabulous customer service including phone support that will literally walk you through any problem, step-by-step. HostGator is even offering a sweet 50% off deal on hosting packages right now in the wake of the GoDaddy issue! Just use promo code ‘godaddyisdown’.
No matter which company hosts your site, I suppose there is always a slight chance that hackers will get in – they are a persistent group, after all. Additionally, your site itself could be hacked. For that reason, you should always have an off-site backup in place. For a great guide on how to back up your WordPress site, download the free report from BlogAid here. There is some very valuable information in this report that all site owners should know – and implement. If your site needs help of any kind, I highly recommend BlogAid!

September 17, 2012I considered going with GoDaddy for site hosting but am glad I ultimately decided to go with HostMySite.com. They have been great and I have not been a day disappointed!
